Morning shoot on North Beach

Morning shoot on North BeachI usually shoot beach portrait sessions near sunset so that the light falls softly on my subjects' face with the water behind them. But this family needed to have their portraits shot in the morning! It was a bit of a challenge since the sun comes up over the water and thus was at their backs, but I used a strong flash to fill in their faces and the yellow "rim light" of the sun behind them created a nice effect that I don't normally get in the evenings. The whole family was enthusiastic about the shoot, which made my job easier.

Family Portraits on North Beach

Here's my latest family portrait session on North Beach. Big challenge with "hair in the face" due to windy conditions but got some good ones nevertheless.

Three Sons on Mustang Island

This extended family - three sons and their parents, plus each of the sons' families - all shared this photo session. Shooting near their Port Aransas condo on Mustang Island, I took advantage of the beautiful reflections in the wet sand as the sun sank behind the dunes.

Photos of Melges 24 Worlds

Melges 24 Worlds photosI just posted images that I shot during the Melges 24 World Championships sailboat regatta sponsored by the Corpus Christi Yacht Club last month.

I was the Yacht Club's official photographer for the event and shot for two days from a boat, following the sailboats around the course. It was exciting to watch world-class sailors in action.

Two sisters on North Beach

Two sisters shared this beach photo session, so I shot photos of both of their families. To me, this photo of the two sisters, which I converted to black and white, shows their close connection.

Photo in Texas Parks & Wildlife Mag

Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine May 2011 issue
The Corpus Christi Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) often buys photos from my stock photo collection ... including this one of a woman birdwatching on Matagorda Island.

The CVB's used the image in an ad in the May 2011 issue of Texas Parks & Wildlife Magazine. Their graphic artist cut out the woman in my original image and dropped it into a white background for ad about birdwatching in Corpus Christi. The full-page ad is in the inside back cover of the mag.

Texas International Boat Show Photos

April 9, 2011 - I shot the Texas International Boat Show today at the Corpus Christi Marina.
My photos are online at: http://thirdcoastphoto.com/events/tibs2011/

The biggest challenge in shooting this event is to get a graphically appealing shot of a crowd - that, plus finding color amidst a sea of white boats!

I've been hired as the event's official photographer for the fifth consecutive year by the organizers. See last year's photos online at: http://thirdcoastphoto.com/events/tibs2010/

The event continues through the weekend, ending on April 10. I'll be posting more photos soon.
